The 2025 LIT Lighting Design Awards recognize outstanding achievements in lighting on a global scale. Renowned for recognizing the creativity and innovation of the lighting design industry, the competition places focus on designs that leave a lasting mark in all areas of the field. The program boasts a total of 31 categories in Architectural Lighting Design, 15 in Entertainment Lighting Design, and 44 in Lighting Product Design.
Competition Guidelines
The jury for the LIT Lighting Design Awards 2025 is comprised of 35 designers, lighting experts, academics and media representatives. Although each category features its own unique set of guidelines, the jury will use a standard list of criteria to assess the entries, including:
- Innovation: does the product provide something new to the market or supplement/improve an existing product?
- Aesthetics: form, shape, colour, texture, finishing, material, etc.
- Functionality: ease of use, safety, maintenance, etc.
- Ergonomics: product/user interaction
- Durability: quality and longevity of design
- Utility: does the product meet the intended purpose and needs of the user?
- Ecological compatibility: potential environmental and/or ecological impact
