Summer 2026

The June/July/August 2026 edition of AZURE is dedicated to our 16th annual AZ Awards — and also features the best of Milan, the New Museum’s expansion, the latest in building envelope systems and more!

The AZ Awards issue packs much more than our winners and finalists — though they certainly take pride of place. (And you can read all about them on our dedicated AZ Awards site.)

London Vertical Farm

The London Vertical Farm design competition encourages participants to come up with visionary concepts for a vertical farm in the urban context.

Designers must design a vertical farm integrated into the urban fabric, while providing a sustainable solution. By focusing on the food production in the urban environment, designers can also come up with innovative and creative solutions to problems such as space limitations and environmental degradation.

It is up to the participants to choose the materials, colour, aesthetic and the type of vertical farm they want to develop.

The proposal must be set within the limits of the selected plot. Participants are free to design around, replacing or repurposing the existing building. The design should not exceed the limits of the plot. There is no maximum height, no restrictions for underground construction, and no minimum distance requirement from the road or neighbouring buildings.

The presentation submission image should consist of a single drawing with absolute freedom of scale. Entrants must also indicate a graphic scale of the drawing in the submitted image in some way.
