Brief
Renowned for his dedication to design excellence and urban design, Michael Evamy was a partner at DIALOG who was instrumental in building the organization’s practice. He was responsible for projects across Alberta including buildings on the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), University of Calgary campuses, and the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. This prestigious award, established in his honour, supports students in Canadian architecture programs as they explore a topic of their choice. The Michael Evamy Scholarship 2025 targets the enrichment of personal and professional growth in architecture.
Eligibility
The DIALOG Michael Evamy Architecture Scholarship 2025 is open to:
- Students enrolled in a Canadian school of architecture during the year before their final year of study in a professional architecture degree program.
Applicants must also:
- Confirm their willingness to work within the available funds
- Confirm their willingness to prepare a public presentation and publication
- DIALOG will organize the presentation, followed by a reception. Travel expenses will be funded separately from the scholarship.
- Use the award money within one calendar year following notification of the award.
Application Requirements
- A Cover Page indicating name, title of the proposed research project, and date of submission.
- A Table of Contents
- A Project Description that clearly and concisely identify the nature and objectives of the proposed project and how it relates to the specified field of study.
- Project Methodology that outline how the study will be conducted, including the general approach to the collection and analysis of information (e.g. photography, sketching, literature review, interviews, etc.).
- A Project Schedule outlining the time frame and location(s) of the study including time allotted for specific project tasks.
- A Project Budget that outlines anticipated costs related to undertaking the proposed project and include a breakdown of essential expenses.
- A Portfolio that provide one example of previous project work demonstrating design and presentation capabilities.
- Three letters of support demonstrating the applicant’s leadership skills and ability to complete the proposed project.
Prizes
- $5,000 in funding for your final research thesis
- $3,000 to cover travel and project-related expenses
- A public presentation of your findings, organized by DIALOG
