The Moroccan Oasis Architecture Competition is aimed at creating a multifunctional complex that honours the rich heritage and sustainable future of the Alaoui family’s ancestral lands near Fes, Morocco. As the world becomes increasingly urbanized, there is a growing disconnect from traditional ways of living and the natural environment. This competition seeks to counteract this trend by promoting designs that integrate luxury, sustainability, and community engagement.
Participants are tasked with designing a space that serves as a home and retreat, fostering a deep connection with the local community and environment. The challenge is to blend modern architectural practices with the traditional Moroccan aesthetic, ensuring that every design respects and reflects the historical significance of the site while incorporating innovative sustainability features.
The competition site is a piece of land near Fes, Morocco, chosen by Prince Moulay Abbas Alaoui for its serene beauty and distance from the political center. It offers panoramic views, rich historical significance, and a profound connection to nature.
