BeSpace has launched the second edition of the Starry Night Experience Competition with the aim of creating a place of interest, leisure and relaxation in Monte Brè, but also where one can learn to explore the sky by learning some rules on orientation.

The competition seeks to actively contribute and offer citizens and future tourists of the city of Lugano new activities and experiences. The objective is to expand the offer of Monte Brè, as well as promoting sustainability and the valorisation of the landscape, experimenting with new forms of tourist attraction and helping to reposition and arouse interest in one of the major symbols of the city of Lugano.

To make Monte Brè even more attractive, guarantee a contextualized design and propose feasible solutions, the following elements must be taken into consideration:

• Nature: understanding the landscape and the biodiversity that inhabits it is the first step in proposing architectural solutions capable of protecting its identity and characteristics.
• Population: in recent years, especially after the pandemic, the need for individuals to get back into contact with nature to improve physical and mental well-being has grown, in addition to the desire for leisure and a break from routine intrinsic in each of us.
• Light pollution: In an age where artificial light from cities has obscured the view of the night sky, we must not forget the importance of rediscovering this beauty and preserving it.
• Feasibility elements: Starry Night Experience aims to provide local people and future tourists with quality architectural solutions. The project will have to guarantee the best possible harmony between architectural elements and landscape, using technologies and materials that are consistent with the local context.
