The Architect’s Stair Edition #2 is an international architecture ideas competition that invites participants to explore the stair as a conceptual and spatial expression. Rather than focusing on functionality or code compliance, the competition encourages designers to reimagine the stair as a vessel for architectural thought — an element that carries narrative, symbolism and identity.
Participants are free to define the context, scale, materiality and function of their stair proposals. Whether theoretical or site-specific, monumental or minimal, the stair should serve as a clear reflection of the designer’s personal architectural language. This is a competition about ideas — an invitation to challenge conventions and design with meaning.
Submission Requirements
- One (1) A2 landscape-oriented presentation board (must not exceed 10MB) with sketches, renderings, plans, sections, elevations, diagrams, and/or other presentation tools to explain their proposal.
- No video files are accepted.
- All information provided in writing must be in English.
- All submissions must be uploaded via the architecturecompetitions.com upload panel.
- Access information and instructions on how to upload the presentation boards will be issued to participants via email immediately after successful registration.
- Presentation boards must not indicate any information related to an individual’s/team’s identity.
Eligibility
The competition is open to all. No professional qualifications are required. Design proposals can be developed individually or by teams (4 team members maximum).
People who have direct personal or professional relationships with jury panel members or organizers may not participate in this competition.
