As an official pilot project of the 30th UIA World Congress of Architects 2029 Beijing, the Yong Ding Chang’an Pavilion International Architectural Design Competition asks participants to design a 200-square-metre urban public pavilion located on the Yongding River waterfront in Beijing, integrated with the 42,000-square-metre waterfront landscape. Centring on core concepts including heritage activation, waterfront ecological optimization, low-carbon design and reversible construction, the competition aims to explore innovative urban micro-intervention design strategies.

Submission Requirements

  • Fully digital online submission; no hard-copy documents required.
  • Submit 1 A0 vertical exhibition board in JPG format at 300 dpi, including 1:100 general layout plan, 1:50 floor plans, elevations and sections, analytical diagrams, renderings, and key interior spaces.
  • Submit an A4 design description covering design concept, site interpretation, technical chapter, operation plan, and economic and technical indicators.
  • The written description is limited to a maximum of 1,000 words.

Eligibility

Open to young architects worldwide, individually or in teams. The registering team leader and author, and further team leaders and authors, must have the right to use the title of architect in their country of origin or residence. All participants must have been born on or after 16 November 1986. Students, associates, employees, family members, or anyone closely related to jury members and persons involved in the preparation or organization of this competition may not participate. Multidisciplinary teams are encouraged.

Award

  • 1st Prize: €35,000
    The first-prize-winning design proposal and its team shall be granted the commission for further detailed design and implementation.
  • 2nd Prize: €20,000
  • 3rd Prize: €10,000
