The 14th edition of the Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF) will make its way to Toronto on November 2-5 and Vancouver on November 9-12. The Festival’s Canadian program will showcase a diverse range of films from 11 countries, including seven Canadian premieres.
Both Festival iterations will present an excellent lineup of guest speakers, with he Toronto Society of Architects curating four post-screening conversations for ADFF:Toronto. Three discussions even feature AZURE editorial members! Here are the films and showtimes to mark in your calendar.

1
Robin Hood Gardens
Following the 6:30 pm screening of Robin Hood Gardens on November 3rd, AZURE senior editor Stefan Novakovic hosts a discussion with ERA Architects founding principal Michael McClelland.
Directed by Thomas Beyer and Adrian Dorschner, the film unpacks the controversial East-London council estate Robin Hood Gardens, built by British architects Alison & Peter Smithson in 1972. Through interviews with both residents and critics, the film prompts a second look at this misunderstood landmark.

2
A World to Shape
Stefan will be joined by Giaimo creative director Stephanie May for a discussion following the 12:15 pm screening of A World to Shape on November 5th.
A World To Shape profiles two contemporary Dutch designers, Nienke Hoogvliet and Dave Hakkens. Director Ton van Zantvoort highlights their ambitious work to make the design industry more sustainable — for instance, by using seaweed to make paint.

3
Grethe Meyer – The Queen of Danish Design
Also on November 5th, AZURE senior editor Eric Mutrie hosts a discussion with Stacklab’s Jeff Forrest following the 2:15 pm screening of Grethe Meyer – The Queen of Danish Design, directed by Isabel Bernadette Brammer.
The designer of the Royal Copenhagen Blue Edge set, Meyer was a key voice during the 1940s-1950s Golden Age of Danish Design.

4
Fashion Reimagined
Opening Night at both cities will kick off with Fashion Reimagined, a documentary that follows fashion designer Amy Powney on her quest to create an ethical and sustainable collection.
