One Light, Infinite Possibilities: An Installation + Conversation with Luceplan & Vantot

Founded in 1978 by three architects, Luceplan specializes in daring designs made possible by innovative technical engineering. Its latest introduction, Liiu, is a perfect example. Developed by the Dutch duo Vantot, the lighting system fastens acrylic lampshades to barely-there electrified tension cables held in place by bold black counterweights. The result is pure sculptural poetry — and the configuration possibilities are endless, ranging from radiant circular rings to cascading waterfalls of light.
This spring, Luceplan will demonstrate the beauty and versatility of Liiu in a dramatic takeover of Standard Shop’s Toronto design hub. To celebrate the installation, Vantot’s EstherJongsma and Luceplan’s MarcoCavalieri are joining Azure in conversation to discuss Luceplan’s design philosophy and ongoing evolution, as well as the development of Liiu and the creative opportunities made possible by this exciting new lighting system.
