Join ERA Architects for a unique conversation about architectural facadism. An interdisciplinary panel featuring Jessica Mace (Assistant Professor of Canadian Art and Architecture, University of Toronto), Stefan Novakovic (Senior Editor, Azure Magazine), and Michael McClelland (Founding Principal, ERA Architects) will discuss the practice of preserving the facades of existing (often heritage) buildings, demolishing the rest, and constructing new architecture behind, within, and around them to create a novel built form.

Moderated by Alessandro Tersigni (Cultural Critic, ERA Architects), this discourse will explore facadism’s cultural, historical, practical, and social emanations. What’s the relationship between the exterior and the interior of a building? Does that relationship differ for architects and the public? How is change related to cultural value? What is authenticity in the built environment? How will facadism in Canada be viewed a century from now?

Come explore these questions by registering for this free virtual event.
