Dortmund-based product design brand Nostudio presents its exhibition Balance with the local initiative, Dortmund Kreativ. As product designers, Nostudio devote themselves to conception, design and prototyping in the areas of furniture, lighting and tableware. Their products can be repeatedly redefined, not only in terms of their applicability in space, but how they initiate playful and social interactions.

The exhibition explores the concept of balance, using everyday products to suggest that balance is not an optimal space but a moving process. Concepts of balance can be found in almost all areas of life. But they all have one thing in common: it’s about a dualistic structure of opposing relationships. 

The work deals with the question of what exactly balance means and how it affects us physically and psychologically. It shows balance as an intermediate state between two opposite extremes. Nostudio’s Balance exhibition shows that balance is not to be seen as a desired optimal condition, but as a process that is constantly in motion. By interacting with the resulting series of everyday products, users are sensitized to the perception of balance.

The exhibition opening is February 23rd, 2023, and will be open to the public until March 18th, 2023.
