The Bentway is looking for a Program Assistant in their Student Work Placement Program. The selected post-secondary student candidate will support the planning, communication and delivery of a wide range of cultural programs and public engagement initiatives in Toronto.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and execution of outreach activities in support of public programs and events
- Research and identify outreach and engagement opportunities aligned with Bentway programming goals.
- Support the documentation, evaluation and reporting of programming and outreach activities
- Participate in creative processes and content development for cross-platform promotions
- Report on ticket sales, press mentions and other key metrics.
- Assist with the planning, promotion, coordination, and on-site delivery of public-facing programs and events
- Develop a strong understanding of The Bentway’s programming and be prepared to answer questions from the public and external stakeholders
- Support the administration and logistics of third-party events, organizing inquiries, and other scheduling tasks
- Build and maintain relationships with local organizations and community partners
- Liaise with other departments to ensure deliverables have been accounted for and coordinated
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team
- Organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
- Experience or interest in outreach, community engagement and event support
- Comfort working in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends
- Knowledge of Toronto’s diverse communities
- Experience working with historically underserved groups is an asset
Student Requirements
Applicants who wish to be considered for the position of Program Assistant in the Student Work Placement Program must also meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be a Canadian citizen/permanent resident/holder of refugee status in Canada (Non-Canadian students holding temporary work visas/awaiting permanent status are not eligible).
- Have legal entitlement to work in Canada;
- Maintain current enrollment in post-secondary program at recognized Canadian PSE institution
- Be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment
- Be able to provide proof of eligibility upon hiring
