FCDO Services is looking for an Interior Designer to join its team in London, with the flexibility of a hybrid working model.

In this role, you’ll focus on a wide range of design projects with a small, supportive team, and help senior designers to source products, create mood boards and deliver high-quality specifications, drawings and presentations. The work of the Interior Designer will include helping to design and select finishes, fittings, textiles, lighting, flooring and furniture to create professional design schemes for projects in historical and contemporary buildings and spaces.

You’ll have a number of additional responsibilities, including producing accurate information that meets budget management and reporting requirements, conducting condition surveys, managing installations and representing FCDO Services onsite. We’ll also expect you to help organize contractors, manage specialist consultants, monitor finances, deliveries, transport, timings and the quality of work, and develop your knowledge of historic residential interiors, offices and public interior design.

With a BA (Hons) in interior design or a diploma in interior design from a recognized design school, you’ll have well developed knowledge of textiles, furniture, lighting and flooring, expertise in colour and decoration, and the ability to source quality products and services. Excellent organizational and time management skills are essential, as are the skills to manage and develop interior design office products and services, and undertake site surveys.

With the ability to interpret and create professional technical documents, you’ll have first-class stakeholder, financial and project management skills. Proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign and SketchUp would be desirable, as would the skill to use Revit. We’ll also look for some knowledge of architectural history, and once you’ve developed the necessary experience with the team, a willingness to travel to projects overseas.
