MKThink is seeking a motivated and experienced Urban Designer to join their San Francisco office and assist teams during all phases of work. Grounded in spatial intelligence and committed to sustainability, the firm specializes in creating intelligent spaces that improve the quality of life of users and residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Urban Design: Develop comprehensive urban plans, zoning regulations, and land use proposals. Integrate sustainable practices into urban design and planning projects.
  • Conceptual Drawings & Renderings: Create detailed drawings, renderings, and visualizations to illustrate proposed urban layouts, streetscapes, parks, and other public spaces. Ensure that designs are visually appealing, functional, and adhere to project requirements.
  • Site Analysis & Research: Conduct site analysis and research to assess land use, zoning regulations, environmental impact, and community needs. Use this data to inform planning and design decisions
  • Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, landscape architects, and other professionals to ensure cohesive and integrated urban planning solutions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all planning and design work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in urban planning or a related field with US firms
  • Is enthusiastic, intellectually curious, responsible, and committed towards the role
  • Strong graphic/visual/design presentation skills
  • Strong understanding of urban design principles, zoning regulations, and environmental sustainability
  • Exceptional drawing, sketching, and rendering skills; proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Revit, Twinmotion, Unreal, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas through visual and verbal means
  • Ability to participate in the development of 3D modelling of projects
  • Prepare various design communication and presentation materials, including sketches, rendered 2D & 3D drawings, rendered perspectives, slide shows, and material selection boards
  • Ability to collaborate and participate in team environments
