BM0488S table bench by Carl Hansen

A new version of Børge Mogensen’s 1958 BM0488S table bench has been released by Carl Hansen & Søn, this time slightly shorter but no less beautiful.

Mogensen’s original design was a part of his “building furniture” concept, which was aimed at creating durable and functional pieces that could be adapted with changing needs in residential settings.

With the BM0488S iteration, Mogensen’s intention is enhanced even further, adding a new layer to the flexible nature of his series. Boasting the characteristic woven seat, refined detailing and quality craftsmanship, the multipurpose object can be used as a seat in the front hall, a side table in the living room, as a bedside table or placed at the end of the bed – basically anywhere that needs an extra perch or surface that is as good-looking as it is useful.

Made with a solid oak frame and double-woven canework seat, the diminutive BM0488S table bench is incredibly sturdy while its gently rounded edges and well-crafted mortise joints give it a quiet elegance.
