Italian designers Fabio Calvi and Paolo Brambilla of Milan-based studio Calvi Brambilla devised the Bumper sofa system for Zanotta as a “soft sculpture” to bring comfort, adaptability and elegance to interior settings.
Paying attention to the details, Bumper is a modular system that is built around three overlapping levels – the base, seat and backrest – each of which embraces curves and distinctive stylistic features.
The three-level concept allows for the utmost in flexibility, with the resulting modules able to be placed in the middle of a room and approached from all angles. From the tailored base to the generously deep seat cushions to the low and bulky backrest, every aspect of Bumper’s curved and embracing profile invites lounging and relaxation.
Easy to move around, the accessory cushions are stuffed with recycled and recyclable polyester chips that assist in formal front-facing seating positions; the removable backrest cover is held in place with unique pin hooks that were inspired by the automotive industry.
Zanotta’s Bumper sofa system of monobloc and modular modules includes various end and corner modules, extended armchairs and pouffes that can be combined to create corner and linear solutions that fit a range of settings in both residential and commercial spaces. A selection of upholstery fabrics and colourways are available.
