The Canvas Chair Outdoor presented by Danish furniture maker Fredericia brings an iconic Børge Mogensen design to exterior settings. 

Originally designed by Børge Mogensen in 1970 as an interior chair made with an oak frame, the Canvas chair was only in production for two years and was one of the renowned designer’s final creations for Fredericia before his passing in 1972. 

The indoor version was relaunched in 2020, and now the adapted Canvas Chair Outdoor joins the ranks of the brand’s casual elegant offerings. Beautifully blending simplicity with functionality, the chair has a familiar scaffold-like supportive frame and generous yet practical dimensions that enhance relaxation and comfort. 

In particular, the extra-wide armrests provide a convenient spot for a book or cup and its generous seat accommodates various sitting and lounging positions. 

When designing the Canvas Chair for Fredericia, Mogensen took inspiration from both archetypical safari chairs and his own 1958 Spanish Chair, which features a supple leather seat and solid oak frame. 

With the new outdoor version, the restrained material composition includes FSC-certified solid teak and textured weatherproof canvas, continue the designers philosophy for dependable materials as well as perfect proportions. 

the Canvas Chair Outdoor version is light enough to be easily moved between the outdoors and indoors when necessary. The Canvas Chair Outdoor from Fredericia will be available fall 2025.
