Taking inspiration from the mathematical precision of the Cartesian grid, Flos‘ Coordinates lighting is a brilliant collection of pendants, wall, and floor fixtures designed by Michael Anastassiades.
Made from extruded aluminum with an anodized champagne finish and an opal-white silicone diffuser, the collection is a series of horizontal and vertical LED strip lights which form illuminated grid-like structures of various complexities.
The Coordinates design evolved from a custom commission for the feature lighting sculpture in the main dining room of the historic Four Seasons restaurant when it relocated in 2018. São Paulo-based architect Isay Weinfeld called on Anastassiades to create a memorable statement piece to highlight the interiors.
Now, the finalized concept is available through Flos in a broad array of set configurations and applications, including four Coordinates suspended chandeliers of different sizes and three ceiling-mounted luminaires (available in two lengths to suit both standard and high ceilings). There is also a repeatable module that can be suspended or ceiling-mounted — ideal for expansive, large-scale installations.
Flos added to the collection a vertical Coordinates floor lamp featuring a simple round base and two lighting bars, which can be set at the preferred beam angle during assembly. Most recently, they also introduced two variations of Coordinates wall-mounted sconces.
