Copenhagen-based designer Lise Vester devised the Dream View bench for Muuto to be “an invitation to pause and daydream for a moment.” Expressing the designer’s belief that sensory design can positively affect our well-being, the curvaceous seat encourages interrupting daily routines for a brief (or prolonged) time to reflect and relax.

Designer Lise Vester began the creative process for the Dream View bench by the sea, mapping the natural curve of her own posture in the sand. From there, she made a Styrofoam prototype that was tested by family members with differing heights and then the overall structure was refined through the addition and subtraction of material until the ideal shape was reached, one that allows for most people to sit comfortably while gazing upwards to the sky.

Made from polished stainless steel, the Dream View bench from Muuto reflects the changing colours of the sky when placed outdoors, bringing the sitter even closer to the healing and nurturing elements found in nature.

When reclining and looking up, passing clouds, shifting tones and birds in flight create an ever-changing canvas for introspection.

An unexpected interpretation of the traditional bench, Dream View is at once playful, sculptural and reflective, and can be seamlessly integrated into everyday life.

The Dream View bench from Muuto is available in two widths – 60 centimetres and 100 centimetres – with the smaller presenting a suitable spot for one person to enjoy a moment of solitude and self-reflection and the larger version comfortably accommodating two people to promote an intimate social interaction and a shared daydreaming experience outdoors.

While it pre-launched during 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen this June, the Dream View bench from Muuto will be officially available in September 2025.
