For its first outdoor light Emerson, artisan lighting brand Hennepin Made took inspiration from transcendentalist Ralph Waldo Emerson and a philosophy that embraces “offering over ornament.” Free of any unnecessary adornment, the lovely wall light imparts an intentional feeling of deep stillness and clarity.

Hand-pressed by skilled artisans using molten Swedish glass, the Emerson wall light from Hennepin Made has a subtly textured and surface akin to shifting and cracking lake ice. This effect is achieved when, after being fired at 1,204 degrees Celsius, the liquid glass is poured and pressed into a dual-part graphite mould, with the rapid heat draw lending the material a hammered surface with subtle bubbles. After the glass shade for the Emerson wall light is formed, it is then annealed for strength and long-lasting durability.

The resultant shade is an elongated oval shape (in two sizes, Narrow and Wide) with a central depression creating a subtle play of light and shadow, even when the fixture is turned off. Enhancing the quiet beauty of the Emerson wall light from Hennepin Made even further are custom-made brass pins that slide into precision-cut slots to create a seamless mounting system that aligns with exacting tolerances while adding an elegant detail.

Designed to withstand sun and storm, the Emerson wall light is suitable for wet environments (including bathrooms) and can be mounted trimless or with a perfectly tailored metal backplate, which is offered in six finishes to match the brass pins: Antique Bronze, Brushed Brass, Black Patina, Gunmetal, Matte Black and Matte White. The glass shade, meanwhile, is available in Frosted or Mist colours, both of which can be specified with any of the metal finishes.
