Barcelona-based designer Antoni Arola has expanded his popular Lámina lighting series for Santa & Cole with the addition of new table, floor, wall and suspension versions.
Originally developed in 2018, the Lámina lighting series calls attention to the virtue of reflected illumination through its considered design – an integrated dimmable LED with a polycarbonate diffuser projects its light onto an arched metallic shade, which serves as a reflector that bounces the light in multiple directions. The captivating effect offers an indirect light that provides high visual comfort.
A study in simplicity and streamlined materiality, the Lámina lighting series from Santa & Cole is composed of two single elements – a line of light and a thin metal sheet. The adaptable system is now more versatile with the addition of wall and floor solutions Lámina Dorada 165 and Lámina Dorada 45 (each named after the length of its shade), a family of suspension, wall, floor and table formats.
With the Lámina Dorada family, Antoni Arola flattened the arched shade and added a gold-hued sheen to turn the metallic sheet into a streamlined golden shade that casts a warm ambient light, with its sculptural presence balancing artistic poetry with lighting efficiency. The effect of the golden shade and matte black structure has a graphic hit that makes a beautiful contrast to the ethereal golden glow.
While the table, floor and wall lamps come in one size each, the suspension lamp is available in four sizes – with one, two, three or four modules strung together.
