Designed by Vincent Van Duysen, Octave is the latest in Molteni&C‘s series of modular sofas defined by rigorous shapes. The source of Vincent Van Duysen’s inspiration for his new project are wide skyscraper windows that offer breathtaking views over cosmopolitan megacities — all from the comfortable vantage point of being seated on an inviting sofa or armchair.
Blade-like extruded steel legs support the base on which rectangular textile or leather-upholstered backrests rest elegantly low to the ground. The backrests have the same thickness as the cozy seat cushions, maintaining a sense of visual balance and wholeness.
Octave offers open elements with which to create chaise lounges or poufs that can be arranged alongside the composition or used as free-standing elements, also for the centre of the room.
A design marked by geometrical lines, Molteni&C’s Octave sofa is based on mix-and-match modular elements that came together in linear and angular compositions — or with the addition of hanging trapezoidal or rectangular elements in unusual and highly appealing configurations.
