Outdoor Biobased Xorel Textiles Carnegie

Addressing designers’ need for durable contract-grade outdoor textiles, Carnegie has developed Outdoor Biobased textiles that are high-performance and sustainable – the first plant-based material to achieve Cradle to Cradle Gold and Living Product Challenge certifications.

The new textiles offer a design-forward alternative that is suitable for high-use environments with strict cleaning protocols such as outdoor spaces in senior living centres, healthcare facilities, education campuses, sporting arenas and hospitality venues. Surpassing the industry standard of containing 25 per cent of non-fossil-fuel derived material, the Outdoor Biobased Xorel yarn incorporates 85 per cent biobased PE content that is sourced from rapidly renewable sugarcane (2.5 tonnes of carbon is captured and sequestered per each tonne of sugarcane used, making it a carbon-positive product).
