Vancouver-based lighting brand Matthew McCormick Studio aims to bring an ethereal glow to any space with its recently launched Ova pendant collection. Comprising an opaque inner layer and a clear or frosted outer layer, the womb-like structures cast a transformative diffused and ambient warmth.
The dimensional glass layers are carefully handcrafted, with the depth of space between each becoming a point of illumination; the delicate seam that joins the inner and outer forms manages to add depth to the body while also concealing the internal light source.
Usually focused on perfection, the Ova pendant system is a departure for McComrick and was born through exploring how glass forms are suspended in negative space and by embracing experimental play with the material. The end result achieved allows the molten glass to highlight its natural attributes.
The standard Ova pendants have a white inner body that can be paired with a clear or frosted outer layer, but, as a modular pendant collection, custom configurations and micro-canopies can be requested.
