Portuguese design brand UTIL introduces the Palco wall shelf, a design by Berlin-based studio Geckeler Michels that beautifully enhances the practicalities of everyday life.

Sleek and minimal, the Palco wall shelf from UTIL is an expression of Geckeler Michels’ — founded by industrial designers David Geckeler and Frank Michels — innate ability to craft functional products informed by human habits, innovation, design history and contemporary technologies and digital methods.

The Palco wall shelf from UTIL is made from a single aluminum sheet, with its streamlined and efficient design minimizing waste during the production process. Offered in one length and three tier configurations — two, three or four shelves — the practical storage system creates a compelling backdrop for all manner of items.

Intentional spacing between the horizontal planes of the Palco wall shelf introduce a graphic visual element while the expansive back panel creates a bold expression against the wall even when empty.

At once sturdy and sophisticated, the Palco wall shelf features built-in bookends and cable holes, allowing for unhindered display of lamps or other electronic devices. Mounted to the wall using a rail system, which conceals the installation hardware for a clean look; the welded elements securely lock into the wall-mounted rail system for a stable fit.

With the three configurations available, the shelving system is suitable for use as everything from a compact spice rack in the kitchen to a multi-level bookshelf in the living room, a convenient storage solution in the foyer and more.

The Palco wall shelf designed by Geckeler Michels for Lison-based UTIL (which means “useful” in Portuguese) is available in five colourway options: Orange, Pure Green, Black, White and Brushed.
