Series of potted plants in hourglass-shaped vessels

A range of sculptural ceramic designs, the new Planter collection by Tina Vaia Studio was intentionally devised to soften architectural settings and position greenery at the centre of spatial experiences.

Both sculptural objects and functional vessels, the pieces in the Planter collection by Tina Vaia Studio combine refined forms, considered proportions and wonderfully expressive surfaces that turn humble plantings into impactful design statements.

Designed at Tina Vaia’s Valencia studio, the collection enhances uncomplicated and familiar silhouettes with gentle curves, stripes and swathes of colour. The result is a series of vessels that grab attention while also providing a place for plants to flourish.

Several pieces feature the studio’s distinctive and swirling Mycelium and Tachiche finishes, which are created using a traditional Japanese technique called Nerikomi, a method that involves layering, slicing and compressing tinted clay to create naturally marbled patterns.

Other finishes used for the vessels include Ceniza, with its deep and moody expression realized using black chamota clay from Urkaine, and the classic Terracotta, which can be glazed or unglazed — or a combination of both, as in a compelling striped surface that lends the pieces a statement-making impression.

Suitable for use indoors and outdoors, the planters come in a variety of sizes and shapes to accommodate different planting wants and needs — from statuesque and sculptural plants to more bushy florals and hanging greenery. The differing heights and profiles also allow the opportunity to layer plants throughout a room, creating diverse displays in private homes, hospitality environments, courtyards and terraces.

Each made-to-order vessel is hand-crafted in the studio’s workshop in close collaboration with local ceramic artists using a low-impact, slow-production process that ensures the collection expresses a handmade and genuine feel.
