Canadian designer Shawn Place conceived this handsome rocking chair, for Copenhagen-based furniture-maker Mater, with West Coast indigenous art in mind.
Made from rugged and natural materials – oak wood and vegetable-tanned Sørensen leather – Rocker has a stripped-back silhouette that emphasizes its craftsmanship, and its identical frames are perfectly balanced to allow rocking with little effort.
The leather seat and back will acquire a patina over time, and the oak frame can be stained grey or lacquered white.
