Sailing is a new bath fixtures collection created in collaboration with renowned New York- and Toronto-based design firm Yabu Pushelberg — and the first project with a North American design team for family-owned, Italian brand, Fantini. Sailing is an evocative translation of an essential design object. Its subtly horn-shaped faucet handles and sleek spout are a poetic reinterpretation of the most classic form of boat cleats, necessary fixtures for securing water crafts by rope.
Yabu Pushelberg drew inspiration from Fantini’s native home on Lake Orta in Northern Italy. “Lake Orta is known for its romantic scenery and powerful serenity. We wanted to emulate the lake’s essence as a tranquil retreat while paying homage to the boldness of Fantini’s creative point of view as a master faucet producer,” the designers explain. In the care of Yabu Pushelberg’s design team, the transformative power of a day on the crystal-clear water became the story of Sailing, and a functional naval shape was transformed into a sleek bathroom accent.
From corporate or hospitality to residential environments, Sailing enhances the utilitarian washroom space with timeless sophistication. The collection seamlessly brings together the light hearted nature of studio founders George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg with the powerful design behind Fantini’s exceptional portfolio. As the collection is observed, the understated design reveals its enticing edges and thoughtful carve-outs, design undercurrents which emphasize water as both Fantini’s birthplace and spirit of its craft.
“Yabu Pushelberg’s innovative approach, passion for detail, and commitment to excellence were the perfect match for Fantini’s own creative intensity,” says CEO Daniela Fantini. “Decidedly modern yet promising enduring appeal, we are delighted to present Sailing as the studio’s inaugural collection for Fantini.”
