French designer Alain Gilles elevates a standard industrial material into a playful and eye-catching element with his Stacked-Up rug collection for the Netherlands-based rug and wallpaper brand YO2.

Playing with visual effects and optical illusions, the rug features a graphic that resembles a stack of corrugated metal sheets complete with an undulating surface that appears to have both texture and depth.

Shadows incorporated in the design contribute to the three-dimensional effect, the perception of which varies slightly depending on what angle the rug is approached.

Printed on tufted polyamide, the pattern is either positioned centrally or just off-centre and the rugs are available in two standard sizes – 200 by 300 and 300 by 400 centimetres – and as a broadloom.

Three colourway combinations are offered and the collection is suitable for commercial use.
