Velia Bross
Photos by Andrea Ferrari

When devising the Velia collection for Bross, Italian architect and designer Marco Zito sought to create soft and comfortable shapes that emphasize curvilinear patterns.

The Velia collection designed by Marco Zito for Bross includes a small sofa, cockpit armchair and pouffe

Included in the Velia collection from Bross are a pouffe, a cockpit armchair and a small sofa, all of which share an ultra-soft shell and precise attention to detail. Defining the upholstered backrest profile of the armchair and small sofa is an interplay of folds that are reinforced by vertical seams, which are visible from both the front and the back. This stitching lends the seats a sartorial accent that highlights the enveloping backrests.

Each fully upholstered piece in the Velia collection is also characterized by varying differences in thickness across the three elements that compose them – the base, the seat and the backrest.

From the slightly recessed base, the plump seat spreads outwards with generously rounded corners that mirror those of the base and accent stitching that runs seamlessly into the shell.

The cocoon-like backrests with wraparound arms on the sofa and armchair cradle the body with ergonomic support, while the backless pouffe has a playful expression and seam detailing that matches those of its seat companions.

Designed for residential living but suitable for use in hospitality and workspace settings, the Velia collection from Bross is available in a wide range of upholstery fabrics; the volumes can be upholstered in a uniform colour and pattern or customized with different materials.
