The Wood lighting series from Blue Green Works, the Manhattan-based design studio founded by creative director Peter B. Staples in 2020, has been expanded to include the new Wood pendants. Inspired by Staples’ love of skateboarding, the Wood pendants share the same half-pipe inspiration as the existing Wood wall sconces, just on a bigger scale.

The Wood pendants from Blue Green Works are composed of sculptural semi-circular wood planks that effectively capture the energy, movement and flow of the urban sport by allowing the light to travel across their surfaces.

In this way, the grain of each plank – offered in black walnut or white oak, with an oiled finish – takes a central role in the Wood pendant’s illumination by becoming a light source itself.

The Wood pendants from Blue Green Works showcase the natural beauty of wood in an architectural display of craft. What’s more, the individual pendants can be stacked, flipped and arranged in a near-endless amounts of configurations to create displays perfectly suited to their surroundings.

Expressing a subtle 1970s nostalgia, the unique lighting pieces are accented by polished steel or satin brass socket and stem detailing and include dimmable LED bulbs – six for the small size and nine for the large size.

Meanwhile, the Wood sconces come in five different shapes – Full, Cut, Half, Round and Oval – with each placing the single dimmable LED bulb at the centre of their semi-circular bodies in a way that washes both the fixture and the wall with an appealing light. The Wood sconces are also available in black walnut or white oak, with an oiled finish.
