Taking place on Saturdays through October 5, this tour by the Toronto Society of Architecture starts with a visit to City Hall, a masterpiece of contemporary architecture that launched Toronto into the modern age, and then heads into the heart of the financial district, home of Canada’s five largest banks and many of the city’s tallest structures.
Along the way, participants will uncover hidden gems among the skyscrapers, rediscover some of the beautiful art-deco structures that once dominated the city skyline, and even take peek into the future to discuss the buildings that will shape the skyline of tomorrow. Among the architectural highlights: financial district marvels by Mies van der Rohe, I.M. Pei and Santiago Calatrava, and Claude Cormier’s recently completed Berzcy Park.
