As cities continue to grow and development continues to move forward, the need for sustainable infrastructure becomes paramount. In 2017, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Gutteres stated, “Infrastructure investment will be crucial. The world should adopt a simple rule: if big infrastructure projects are not green, they should not be given the green light.
Otherwise, we will be locked into bad choices for decades to come.” Envision provides a consistent, consensus-based framework for assessing sustainability and resilience in infrastructure and serves as a decision-making guide, not a set of prescriptive measures. Envision not only asks, “Are we doing the project right?” but also, “Are we doing the right project?”
This webinar will provide an introduction to Envision, a tool within a larger system developed to help evaluate the sustainability of civil infrastructure. The program will feature a detailed overview of the tool, case studies of Envision in use, and a moderated panel of experts including Joshua DeFlorio, Chief of Resilience and Sustainability, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Anthony Kane, President and CEO, Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure and Ruth Krieger, Associate Vice President, HDR.
