Mitrex & Cladify are seeking a Senior Architectural Designer to join their office in Etobicoke and provide leadership to their design teams and contribute to their cladding exterior projects. The firms specialize in building envelope solutions and are committed to creating sustainable and energy-efficient buildings.
Senior Designer Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage cladding exterior projects from panel layout to installation, ensuring strict adherence to design criteria, project timelines, and requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams, to ensure the successful execution of projects.
- Conduct on-site visits and assessments to gather information, evaluate existing structures, and propose design recommendations.
- Create detailed shop drawings, panel layouts, connection details, bills of materials, installation manuals, production orders, cut sheets, and assembly drawings using industry-standard software and tools.
- Leverage proficiency in Autodesk Inventor to automate design processes, enhancing team efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with clients, architects, and engineers to understand project requirements and translate them into tangible projects using Cladify and Mitrex products and solutions.
- Provide technical guidance to design team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Stay updated on the latest architectural and sustainable design trends, materials, and technologies, incorporating them into design proposals.
- Participate in product development initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building envelope design, with a focus on sustainable and energy-efficient building envelope solutions, claddings, and prefabricated wall panel systems.
- Proficiency in architectural design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor software is highly advantageous, as it will facilitate the automation of our design processes and enhance team efficiency.
- Strong knowledge of sustainable design principles, rainscreen principles, and precast panel principles.
- Excellent understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing projects, from shop drawings to installation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including project management and production teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for sustainable architecture and prefabrication.
- Familiarity with the production process of fabrication drawings, cut sheets, assembly drawings, and installation manuals.
- Familiarity with national building codes.
