Copenhagen-based designer Maria Bruun devised the Re-norm table for Muuto as a way to reimagine how people gather and connect and to establish a new expression for everyday moments.
Defined by a sculptural form, the Re-norm table from Muuto aims to introduce both a sense of intimacy and one of openness to a multitude of settings. The tabletop has a sail-like silhouette, with opposing sides in differing lengths. This uneven tabletop shape effectively breaks from rigid and preconceived formats to invite a more fluid and inviting experience.
Adding to its unexpected nature, the three supporting legs are also rendered in different sizes, with two thinner ones at one end balanced by a singular large one at the other end; rounded on the inside and scooped out on the outside face, the trio of supports creates an appealing tension while also offering ample leg room underneath for maximum comfort.
A wonderful example of Bruun’s signature approach — one that is defined by material sensitivity and sculptural form — the Re-norm table is practical as well as beautiful, blending artistic qualities with function to stunning effect.
The Re-norm table from Muuto is crafted from FSC-certified form-pressed birch plywood, which lends quiet yet expressive details in its natural grain. The honest materiality has an intuitive warmth and appeal, which enhances Bruun’s intention to deliver a table that challenges convention.
Adding to its welcoming appeal, the Re-norm table is available in three finishes: oak veneer, walnut veneer and a light blue-painted ash veneer; all three are treated with a water-based lacquer and manufactured without the addition of PFAS.
