Garage Museum of Contemporary Art

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art announces the third open competition for the development of the architectural concept of the Garage Screen summer cinema on the Arts Square in front of the Museum. The goal of the competition is to give architectural firms an opportunity to try their hand at creating a temporary pavilion, which will be implemented in Gorky Park in the spring of 2022.

The summer cinema Garage Screen is conceived as a structure that will allow you to look differently at the phenomenon of temporary architecture, reflect the frequency and transience, but at the same time – the renewability of the summer season. The design site has a rich context: opposite is the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, designed by Rem Koolhaas, and around is Gorky Park, which has the status of the “main park of Moscow”. Participants need to include in their projects elements of the old cinema, including the amphitheater located on the Arts Square, as well as cinema projection and acoustic equipment.

Eligibility

The team may include persons / creative associations / bureaus with experience in the implementation of projects in the field of contemporary art.

Young architectural firms from Russia, as well as residents of the countries of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, are invited to participate.
