League prize night entires black and white image collage and 3D printing machine

The League Prize Night is an annual event that has been organized by The Architectural League since 1981. Open to designers ten years or less out of school, it draws entrants from around North America.

The 2022 theme, Grounding, asked entrants to reflect on the substance of design’s foundations. How do young architects tether their work and practices to the grounds upon which they design? How can designers respond to both the particularities of location and the ubiquity of global forces? What are intentional approaches to and forms of grounding?

The final evening of lectures by winners of the 2022 Architectural League Prize features Farzin Lotfi-Jam of Farzin Farzin (Ithaca, NY) and Xavi Laida Aguirre of stock-a-studio (Detroit, MI).

The presentations will be followed by a moderated discussion and Q&A with 2022 Young Architects + Designers Committee member Tei Carpenter. Carpenter is an architectural designer, educator, and founder of Agency—Agency. She has taught at Columbia University GSAPP, the University of Toronto, Rice University, and Brown University.
