Summer 2026

The June/July/August 2026 edition of AZURE is dedicated to our 16th annual AZ Awards — and also features the best of Milan, the New Museum’s expansion, the latest in building envelope systems and more!

The AZ Awards issue packs much more than our winners and finalists — though they certainly take pride of place. (And you can read all about them on our dedicated AZ Awards site.)

Mindful Mining Munich Thumbnail

Pinakothek der Moderne and the Department of Metal and Jewelry at Kookmin University present Mindful Mining. For the first time, works by over 20 students from one of the department’s jewellery classes will be presented in front of the “Setzkasten” (setting box) in the entrance area of the Neue Sammlung (The Design Museum.) The exhibition title is a metaphor for the creation of a world of its own, in which designing artistically means rediscovering something in an everyday environment and giving it new meaning.

The procedure of the young artists of Seoul, Korea’s Kookmin University is similar to that of a miner looking for precious ores and minerals; their finds became objects, symbols and finally part of our world of things once again. Under the direction of Prof. Dongchun Lee, students of the university’s Department of Metal and Jewelry create their very own world from materials and shapes. Their studio resembles a mine with veins, into which they descend with the greatest care to make unexpected, surprising discoveries.
