Join the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto’s (MOCA) Artistic Director and Curator, Rui Mateus Amaral, for a special comprehensive tour of the captivating exhibitions featured in this season.
In this guided experience, visitors can expect a detailed exploration of key exhibits at the MOCA. This includes: Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas’ Diaries After a Flood on the 1st Floor, a suspended gallery with a style that mixes North Pacific Indigenous narratives, frame lines, and Japanese cartooning; Alex Da Corte’s Ear Worm on the 2nd Floor, a dreamlike, vivid, and surreal environment that draws from areas of pop culture, sexuality, violence, cinema, children’s literature, and art & design history; and Tishan Hsu’s Interface Remix on the 3rd Floor, a multimedia installation that combines painting, sculpture, and installation, and includes a new site-specific work made from emergent technologies.
As you explore the exhibitions, Mateus Amaral will be providing unique insights into each artist’s work, discussing the creative concepts and themes behind the pieces. Sharing his curatorial perspective, Mateus Amaral will also be explaining the process involved in developing and shaping each exhibition, making this curator tour an exclusive opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the art and the vision behind its presentation.
