Storefront's Homelands exhibition - green house exterior in a forest

Storefront for Art and Architecture announces Homelands, a new exhibition series of long-term research, exhibitions and programs, explore the concept of archives, memory, and personal narratives. The thematic programming series invites audiences to see archives not only as a record of the past, but as a generative space of possibility.

The theme of “homelands” dissects memory-making and the systemic concerns of racial capitalism, historical erasure, and cultural reclamation. Exhibiting artists and collectives include art school Sertão Negro, New York City-based artist and filmmaker Alison Nguyen, London-based architect Thandi Loewenson, Los Angeles-based interdisciplinary artist Danielle Dean, Singaporian artist Sim Chi Yin, and Kosovar artist Petrit Halilaj with Ars Atelie.

For the first phase of Storefront’s Homelands exhibition, they will host a Summit in Goiânia, Brazil in late October 2025, to facilitate collective learning with the exhibiting artists and architects, as well as curators, anthropologists, activists, poets and cultural practitioners, and collectively develop a nuanced approach to the sociopolitical concerns of the theme. Additional summits will take place at the Hajde Foundation (Pristina, Kosovo) in October 2026, and in New York City in December 2026 to conclude the year.
