With an exhibition design and curation by Konstantin Grcic, “White Out. The Future of Winter Sport” promises to be as refreshing as hitting the slopes. And it’s timed for peak excitement around the Olympics – as Italy is hosting the Winter and Paralympic Games from February 6 to 22 and March 6 to 15, 2026 respectively.

Taking its name from the optical effect generated at high altitudes when the fusion of the white sky and the snow-covered landscape results in poor visibility, the exhibition investigates the relationship between winter sports and design, with particular reference to the inevitable future challenges posed by climate change and technological progress. “White Out” is organized in thematic sections that put the focus on various disciplines, projects, equipment and technologies with a special focus on stadia and other architecture that play host to the athletic competitions.

The show is part of the Milano Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad, a broad-ranging, varied and multidisciplinary program aimed at inspiring Italy to promote Olympic values through culture, heritage and sport. It coincides with like-minded programming including Art Posters, a series of 10 posters commissioned from some of the most interesting Italian artists who were invited to explore the relationship between art and sport.
