IKEA‘s Museum of Furniture Studies is looking for a Head of Collections for its team in Älmhult, Sweden. The Head of Collections will lead and secure maintenance, research and presentation of the museum collection.

Qualifications

IKEA’s Museum of Furniture Studies is looking for a passionate furniture design specialist to fill the role of Head of Collections. This individual will have:

• An in-depth knowledge about furniture design from both a historical and contemporary perspective
• Ease in sharing knowledge in an intriguing and understandable way for all kinds of target audiences
• Strength in collaboration and in building trustful relationships both within organisation and with other stakeholders/networks and media
• Authentic leadership and active work to ensure that IKEA’s and the Museum of Furniture Studies’ culture and values are a strong and living reality
• Entrepreneurial mind with a can-do spirit

Requirements

• IKEA’s Head of Collections will have experience working with research linked to furniture design, as well as articles written and shared within this field
• University degree in the fields of design/architecture/museum studies
• Experience from collection management and acquisitions
• A burning interest for learning and sharing knowledge with colleagues, students and anyone interested in the museum
• Fluency in written and spoken English
