FORREC is Looking to hire Interior Senior Designer to join their office in Toronto, Ontario.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively manages assigned projects from early conceptual stages through to final completion.
- Manages, mentors and coordinates the work of junior and intermediate interior designers on various projects
- Responsible for selection and specification of furniture, lighting, finishes and artwork.
- Responsible for preparing and/or reviewing FF&E documents
- Depending upon the size and scope of each project, renders conceptual design ideas and prepares 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings or oversees the work of others
- Prepares, corrects and updates documents during all phases of work.
- Manages client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination as well as coordination with all internal departments for assigned projects
- Enthusiastically participates and contributes to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs to further professional development of self and more junior interior design staff
- Creates technical/CAD/Revit drawings and assists more junior staff as needed.
- Reviews the technical work of more junior Interiors staff
- Works closely with Project Managers and other internal team members to meet overall project objectives
- May present training/professional development “lunch & Learn” opportunities in-house for interior design staff and others
- Ensures that all project work is delivered on time and on budget for agreed upon deliverables
- Liaises directly with clients on assigned projects to meet their design needs
- Coordinates with sub consultants and vendors as required to meet the needs of the project
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field
- NCIDQ or equivalent is an asset
- 8-10 years of related experience as an interior designer (retail, restaurant and hospitality experience are preferred)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of furniture, fixture and equipment, architectural/interior finishes, lighting, signage, art, and color schemes to carryout design intent
- Sound knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models.
- Understanding of the building code and design standards in order to develop suitable space planning.
- Proficiency in the basic technical skills of interior design including the following computer skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop and Revit
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software
- Excellent graphic presentation skills
- Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development
- Demonstrated ability to communicate design ideas and direction quickly
- Ability to present design intent to clients and take feedback for adjustments
- Strong organizational, communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Obvious enthusiasm and passion for design
- Capable of effectively meeting deadlines
