Giannone Petricone Associates is seeking a Senior Architect to join its team in Toronto.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the design of large-scale, mixed-use developments with skills ranging from concept design and approvals coordination through to building design and documentation. Relevant mixed-use experience to include design and production of residential, commercial, hospitality and place-making.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture, architectural science or architectural technology
• Minimum 10+ years professional working experience not including co-operative education placements
• Experience with local municipal approvals process
• Commitment to design excellence and execution, as well as the skills to bring it to life
• Ability to produce and coordinate contract documents with annotated and dimensioned drawings
• Demonstrated experience in developing projects from concept design to completion

Responsibilities

• Work with Associates to coordinate internal project deliverables
• Provide oversight in the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of project phases
• Oversee, develop and guide design conception, design detailing and production of presentation materials
• Lead development of construction documents and follows up with design work as drawings and construction progress
• Support associates in adjacent work while collaborating across teams
• Guide contract administration and work effectively with contractors to resolve site issues
• Perform effective analysis of applicable building codes, by-laws and other regulations and technical documents to which a project may be subject
• Provide oversight, quality assurance and review work produced by team members to ensure that they meet GPA standards
• Mentor and motivate staff by challenging them, but also engaging their creativity and recognizing achievements
• Ensure the right people are working on the right tasks by delegating work to appropriate team members
