Designed by Hong Kong-based Studio Ella, the Fibre rug collection is handwoven using tropical abaca fibre and has a rich tactility underfoot.

When devising the Fibre rug collection, designer and interior architect Ella Bridgland – who founded her eponymous studio in 2017 – was inspired not only by aspects from the natural world but also the “decorative, protective and symbolic elements of ancient bark cloth designs.”

The Fibre rug collection includes three graphic patterns – Surface, Stalk and Structure – that are meticulously handwoven by skilled artisans in the Philippines. Each a work of art in its own right, the rugs combine dimensions of ancient traditions with a refined sensibility.

Surface features a repetition of somewhat squiggly lines that impart a wonderful playfulness. Surface is offered in three standard sizes and three base colourways of Natural, Brown and Red.

Defined by a pattern with an irregular grid interwoven with leafy stems, Stalk loosely resembles a trellis with climbing plants. Available in three standard sizes and three colourways: Natural, Brown and Red.

The most regimented of the patterns, Structure displays a linear arrangement of triangles that alternate colours for graphic impact. Three standard sizes are available as are the three colourways of Natural, Brown and Red.
With each version in the Fibre rug collection by Studio Ella, a latex backing provides slip-resistant stability and a degree of waterproofness.
