London design agency BLOND has contributed Loop and Card to Chipolo’s portfolio of thoughtfully designed Bluetooth trackers. The Slovenia-based technology company had asked the studio – founded by James Melia in 2015 – to devise Loop and Card as intuitive devices that keep personal items safe while on the go.
In response, BLOND developed Loop and Card for Chipolo to meet at the intersection of tech gadgets and fashion accessory. Both are evolutions of existing products that Chipolo wanted to reimagine for efficiency and functionality.
A rechargeable tracking tag, the Loop finder from Chipolo is made from at least 50 per cent post-consumer recycled plastic and features an inbuilt silicone ring that allows it to be easily attached to a variety of items; the device’s body is made from hard plastic with a textured shell and contrasting glossy concave surface that indicates where the signal button is – a quick double-press sets off the alarm, which is loud enough to hear from a distance (the charging LED can also be activated to provide a visual cue as well).
Compatible with both iPhones and Android phones, Loop from Chipolo is available in six curated colour options – Coral, Honey, Mint, Navy, Chalk and Charcoal – and is equipped with a USB-C charging port (the battery lasts up to six months on a single charge) and has a Bluetooth range of approximately 120 metres.
The Card from Chipolo is a Bluetooth wallet tracker that measures 2.5-millimetres thick – the size of two credit cards, it is easily slipped into a wallet. Card is rechargeable using a Qi magnetic wireless charger and will emit a loud ring when activated. As with Loop, Card from Chipolo features a sleek design with a matte body and contrasting glossy button, that is also double-pressed; the sound is emitted through a discreet hole on the side corner, ensuring maximum sound projection while maintaining its minimalist lines.
Also made from 50 per cent post-consumer recycled plastic, Card from Chipolo is offered in a rich black colour, has a Bluetooth range of approximately 120 metres and is compatible with both iPhones and Android phones.
