Milan-based designer Marc Sadler created the transformative Poppy suspension lamp for Slamp, a luminous sculpture fashioned after blossoms.

Devised as a modular and customizable lighting installation, the Poppy suspension lamp was born of a synergy between artisanal craftsmanship and technological research. Each flower in the bouquet is made from Lentiflex (specially developed technopolymer sheets) that is hand-shaped through a process called Tecnoformatura, a proprietary process developed by Slamp in collaboration with the designer.

The process softens the material until it’s malleable and then is sculpted by hand by skilled artisans at the brand’s atelier outside of Rome. Each bud within the Poppy suspension lamp from Slamp is composed of three layers of Lentiflex — two are finished in a soft white that diffuses a delicate yet vibrant LED. A central pistil in black anchors the structure and lends a visual signature.

The delicate red-painted brass stems support the flowers with effortless grace while also introducing a playful pop of colour. As a thoughtful and artistic gesture, one in every seven flowers is airbrushed by hand in red, a move that makes each Poppy suspension lamp one of a kind.

The Poppy suspension lamp from Slamp is available in two versions — one with seven elements and one with 14; each bloom is interconnected by thin silver-plated copper wires that carry low-voltage electricity.

A theatrical presence as much as a functional lamp, Poppy has an organic quality that is enhanced by its ethereal glow. This third lamp by Sadler follows his Tulip and La Fleur designs.
