The 20th anniversary edition of Helsinki Design Week (HDW) celebrates two decades of design excellence in Finland’s capital. The 2025 theme, Celebration, will be explored through immersive exhibitions, talks, installations and events across the city. The festival’s main hub is Suomitalo, a new cultural venue beside Old Church Park, hosting the flagship exhibition Designing Happiness, curated by Anniina Koivu and featuring iconic designers like Ero Aarnio, Erwan Bouroullec and Oiva Toikka.
Brand collaborations with Artek and SAAS Instruments bring the theme to life through spatial experiences, while Kuurna pop-up restaurant and Klaava wine bar add local flavour. Across ten days, nearly 100 events invite professionals and the public to engage with topics such as urban development, materials innovation, and creative entrepreneurship. City-wide highlights at Helsinki Design Week 2025 include the popular Design Market (September 6-7), Aalto University’s ARTEFAKTI and Designs for a Cooler Planet, HDW Children’s Design Week with Skidit Collective, Open Studios, PechaKucha Night, and the unveiling of the new Architecture and Design Museum competition results.
