Toronto Metropolitan University hosts the first Canadian exhibition dedicated to the work of internationally acclaimed architect Mario Cucinella and his Bologna and Milan-based studio, MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects. A key program of the Italian Contemporary Film Festival (ICFF), the exhibition highlights the depth and vision of Cucinella’s architectural practice. Founded in 1992, MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects has led international projects across sectors and has received numerous prestigious awards for its forward-thinking and environmentally conscious architecture. In 2015, Cucinella also founded SOS – School of Sustainability, a post-graduate program aimed at addressing global challenges through design.

Cucinella’s compelling body of work bridges design excellence with environmental and social consciousness. The exhibition offers an immersive look at some of his most significant contributions to the field through architectural models and displays of such projects as TECLA (the world’s first 3D-printed clay house), the Italian Pavilion for Expo Osaka 2025, and Milan’s Unipol Tower; as well as multimedia and interactive Installations that include interviews and conceptual videos exploring Cucinella’s philosophy of regenerative architecture and urban resilience.

This showcase invites visitors to reflect on how architecture can shape more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable communities, offering a timely perspective on the built environment’s role in addressing global challenges.
