Cherry Red

Roses are red, violets are blue, and cherries are particularly hot right now — at least according to the colour trend reports, that is. Dark cherry red, a deep crimson colour that first crossed our radar during last year’s edition of Milan Design Week, continues to gain major cultural capital in 2025, showing up on runways and restaurants alike. Especially as we approach Valentine’s Day, there’s never been a better time to invest in some bold red furniture. Forget the bouquet — surprise your sweetheart with a rouge sofa or dining table instead. (Hey, it’ll last longer!) Here’s our roundup of 10 designs that meet our passion for luscious red hues.

1
Assiale table by B&B Italia

Assiale table shown in two configurations in red colour

Cherry pie tends to draw a crowd, but thankfully, Piero Lissoni’s monolithic red dining table can handle it. A special sliding mechanism allows the B&B Italia table to be easily lengthened, with the smaller of the two size offerings expanding from 2.1 to 2.9 metres, and the larger variety growing from 2.5 to 3.3 metres. Both glossy and lacquered finishes are available, while a special fixed version of the table features a Levanto red marble tabletop for even more monumental drama.

2
Fortune chair by Heller

New York design studio Jumbo modelled its seating after its favourite foods, shaping the Heller chair like a Chinese fortune cookie and offering it in a range of gastronomy-inspired hues, including Dark Cherry. The recycled plastic seat is suitable for use indoors or out, with a drainage hole to prevent water buildup and a hidden grip under the seat for easy transportation.

Colour Rack by Muller van Severen for HAY

Colour Rack by Hay shown in situ in an apartment setting

A lack of closet space can frequently spur a lovers’ quarrel: This sculptural piece by Muller Van Severen for HAY is a stylish solution to your storage woes. The free-standing, open design — available in both C- and S-shaped modules that can be chained together — serves as both a clothing rack and a room divider. The powder-coated steel forms are offered in eight high-gloss hues (including Maroon Red) that add a punch of personality to any space. And while the durable pieces are designed to last, they are 100 per cent recyclable and can be fully and easily separated at the end of their life.

Carousel Lamps by Claudia Melo for Utu

Handmade with love in Portugal, these lamps by Claudia Melo for Utu will capture your heart. Shown here in the colourway Lipstick, the lacquered metal modules boast a juicy sheen only rivalled by cinnamon hearts; light filters through the inset cotton shades, imparting a warm, soft glow. The suspension lamp is available with three or five arms, while a sconce version allows the geometry of a single module to shine all on its own. We’re partial to this cherry red hue, but the fixtures are also available in a variety of candy-like colourways, plus a suite of neutrals. Shown here at two French restaurants — La Mostra in Ajaccio and La Raffinerie in Lyon — the Carousel collection sets the mood for a romantic date night, on Valentine’s Day or otherwise.

5
Classic Induction Range in Red by Fisher & Paykel

Bold colour doesn’t have to end with kitchen appliances. Fisher & Paykel’s raspberry-hued Classic Induction Range in Red brings design heat to your culinary pursuits. Pairing induction zones in one large cooktop, the finely-tuned controls allow for an elevated cooking experience. And if you don’t have a Valentine this February 14th, the delicious cherry colour will make sure you’ll at least get a chef’s kiss.

6
Dedale 58 Rouge by Ateliers Lison De Caunes

Cherry Red

In Paris, straw marquetry studio Ateliers Lison De Caunes revives a 17th century practice in the form of bespoke furniture, wall partitions and decorative panels. Case in point: Dedale 58 Rouge. Crafted through a process similar to wood marquetry — using split wheat or oat straw instead of wood veneer — this geometric design boasts a dramatic cherry red and bubblegum pink combo.

HEB tables by +Halle

HEB Tables from plusHalle

With a charming industrial-meets-elegant quality, the HEB tables designed by Copenhagen-based studio Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen for +Halle make a playful companion piece in any setting. Envisioned by the studio as “social touchstones” to gather around, the H-beam-inspired aluminum sculptures are topped and bottomed by circular smooth-laminate surfaces (with matching or contrasting edge bands), creating an expressive interplay between vertical and horizontal elements. Multiple sizes are available and they all come in seven high-gloss colourways – including an arresting Red – that can be monochrome or mixed-and-matched.

8
H.H.H. by Philippe Starck for Kartell

Can vibrant, exuberantly coloured synthetics go hand in hand with sustainability? While plastics and chemical dyes both remain major contributors to water pollution, habitat destruction and global warming, things are changing for the better. Philippe Starck’s recently updated H.H.H. — Her Highest Highness — is a case in point. For starters, the chair is now fabricated using Kartell’s exclusive Polycarbonate 2.0,  a renewable and recyclable polymer made from cellulose and paper waste. As for the bright colour? Even the deep, rich and romantically super-glossy Bordeaux finish is made with eco-friendly dye.

9
Naca Table Series by Fast

Cherry Red

When it comes to the Naca table, it’s all about the legs. Designed by David Lopez Quincoces and Francesco Meda for outdoor furniture-maker Fast, the extruded die-cast aluminum structural element appears either almost flat or subtly curved, depending on the angle its viewed. Considered the defining characteristic of the table, the distinct stems can be arranged in multiple ways and topped by surfaces in a variety of sizes, formats, materials to suit personal tastes. Offered in a palette of 15 colourways that range from metallic grey and light blue to pearly gold and, of course, Autumn Red, the Naca table makes a warm and welcoming setting for an al fresco dinner for two.

10
Squash Armchair by Faye Toogood for Poltrona Frau

It’s like sitting in a hug. Faye Toogood‘s soft, snug and sculptural armchair is an invitation to intimacy. Combining a plush, 1970s-inspired seat with a refined and sculptural leather base, Squash serves up an unexpectedly coherent interplay of the unapologetically expressive and the elegantly refined. And while the armchair and ottoman are available in a wide range of colourways, it’s a design rooted in red. “I loved Poltrona Frau’s iconic Vanity Fair from the 30s in lipstick red,” says Toogood, describing the inspirations for Squash. “Straight away I knew I wanted to honour these archive colours and respond with a contemporary shape that met their boldness. It feels very refreshing to make a chair in such a strong, saturated shade.”
